30,000 Aeroplan Points Free

Previously, the American Express Gold card offered only 25,000 Membership Rewards points, which convert 1:1 into Aeroplan. However, a new offer, which is the best-ever offer, appeared a couple months ago: 25,000 points after spending $1,500 in three months, and 5,000 points when you add an authorized user for free when you apply for the card, for a total of 30,000 Membership Rewards/Aeroplan points. There is no cost to add the authorized user.

This card is absolutely free for the first year, and you should cancel it before the annual fee is due. While the 25,000 point offer is standard, the additional 5,000 point offer seems to be a limited-time promotion, so if you’re just starting churning or have never had the American Express Gold card before, now is as good a time as ever to apply. This is one of the easiest cards to be approved for, and only requires a personal or household income of $20,000. The additional 5,000 points is only available through a referral link and is not a publicly available offer.

  1. Isnt AMEX restricting bonuses to Once in a Lifetime now?
I have had this card before and not sure if I qualify for the bonus.
    Can you please confirm?

    1. There is language in the T&C that indicates once-per-lifetime. HOWEVER, this doesn’t seem to be regularly enforced. The tip floating around is to not include any current AMEX numbers in the application. I have done this multiple times and got the points no problem. Note that points are now sometimes taking 6-8 weeks to come in.

      1. Can you elaborate what did you mean by not to include any “current AMEX numbers” in the application? Thanks!

        1. There’s a section on the app to input a current Amex card number. Even if you have a current Amex, just don’t put it in.

  2. Hi Avery,
Thanks for the info.I have just applied.
A question :Does the $1500 spent includes the spent of the added authorized user ?
    Thanks again
    Michael.
( I met you 2 years ago at the Chicago Seminar)

    1. Hi Micheal! Since the charges from the auth user are charged to the main account, yes, it counts

  3. If I have the card and have a supplementary card already do you think I can still get the 5000 bonus points. This is a public offer right?

    1. I think so, since you’ve never had that offer before. Now, if you currently hold the gold card no, can’t have more than one account of the same type.

  4. Data point:
I got a card through another referral web site. I’ve reached a minimum spending of $500 (not $1,500) 4 days ago. I went to AMEX web site, the 25k bonus points were already credited, so my case have been within a few days not 6-8 weeks last a few years.

I followed the advice on this web site, and I applied as a new customer, not entering any info on existing AMEX info. The screen said it’ll be reviewed within 10 days. The next business days, AMEX called me to make sure that I’m applying for a card, and I’m the existing customer not the new customer. That was pretty much all she asked and I got approved.
