Is the Chase Marriott credit card going away?
The Chase Marriott Visa, which carries an excellent 50,000 Marriott point + free night certificate sign-up bonus, has sort of “disappeared” from the Chase homepage. Here’s what I mean:
Notice how the Amazon card has an “Apply Now” button, while the Bestbuy, Futureshop, and Marriott card don’t? Both the Bestbuy and Futureshop cards are being transferred over to Desjardins, so it makes sense that you can’t apply for them. Now, you can still apply for the Marriott card through other links [this is not a referral], however, the fact that the “general public” is unable to apply for it worries me. If Chase’s signal of removing a credit card is removing the “Apply Now” button as they have for the disappearing Bestbuy and Futureshop cards, does that mean the Marriott card is next to go?
I don’t think this is an error. If you look at the source code of the homepage, the link is being actively repressed, although the application URL is available in the code. If you have been considering churning this card, which I highly recommend, you should do it now. Of course, there’s no way for me to know whether the Marriott card is disappearing, and hopefully my speculation is incorrect, however, the active suppression of the application link is not a good sign.
Just applied via the Marriott website. Appears to be working thru there.
Just noticed yesterday that the Chase Amtrak card isn’t on there website anymore. Thoughts?
I don’t think Chase Canada has ever issued that card 😉
I just called Chase Wed to get a chip version of my Marriott card. It’s on its way. Very strange.
All Chase cards have had Chip & Pin for many years… are you sure you’re not talking about the American Chase?
