Cuban Flights Now Bookable on Aeroplan
Since 2012, Aeroplan has been blocking award redemptions on all flights to and from Cuba. Last month, I announced that Aeroplan would shortly allow Cuban redemptions, and as of today, all Star Alliance flights to and from Cuba can be booked using Aeroplan miles.
Air Canada, United, Air China, Avianca, and Turkish all fly to Cuba. Opening up Cuba could lead to some interesting award redemptions, such as going Montreal – Havana – Istanbul – (Europe) – Montreal. North America – Cuba rates aren’t a very good deal at 40,000 Aeroplan miles, but adding Cuba on an international stopover is certainly an exciting possibility.
You failed to mention the taxes and fees are high for Cuba, for the taxes and fees you have to pay if you add couple hundreds more you may buy a charter flight, why bother waste the 40000 points.
