American Express offers the best credit cards in Canada for free travel, and the first card everybody should get is the American Express Gold card. The annual fee for this card is waived for the first year (and you’ll cancel before the year is done), and after spending $1500 in three months, you’ll get 25,000 Membership Rewards points. Yesterday, I posted about how Aeroplan was blocking redemptions on any booking that does not involve a point in Canada or the United States. I emailed my contact at Aeroplan this morning, who seemed surprised about it. Hours later, my contact replied that the system is restored to normal. I’ve tested the website again, and it appears that the system has been fixed.
