Review: InterContinental Saint Paul Riverfront
I recently visited the InterContinental Saint Paul, and it offers exceptional value and phenomenal treatment for Ambassadors.

As my attentive readers may have noted, I’ve become an expert on getting free hotel rooms – specifically, through the IHG BRG program. This was my best yet, and on New Year’s Eve!
Several weeks ago, I stayed at the Intercontinental Austin using an Ambassador BOGO certificate. It was quite a nice stay, and being the time that SCOTUS announced their gay-marriage decision, a stay certainly encompassed by celebration.
My friend and I recently “backpacked” (is it really backpacking if you’re staying at luxury hotels?) through California. Our last night was in Los Angeles, where we were to fly back to Toronto the next day. Note that L.A. is one of my least favourite places. It’s this vile mix glitzy with incredible poverty, is unwalkable, smelly, and dirty. It reminds me of Johannesburg (my other least favourite city).
The Intercontinental Monterey the Clement is located right on the historic Cannery Row of Monterey, directly overlooking the water. It is a relatively new property, and arguably one of the finest hotels in Monterey. I stayed there for two nights during late April, and I had what can be best described as a weird, but all-around good stay.
I’m currently planning a trip for my parents to Turkey. They both had 60,000 IHG points, and I wanted them to have a “splurge” trip rather than staying at a cheaper hotel. I was trying to book them two nights at the Intercontinental Istanbul, which costs 50,000 points per night. This is where I met an incredibly frustrating problem – IHG minimum nights for award bookings.
