I’m tired with school, work, and all that stuff, so I’m taking a random trip for three days to Okinawa! I’ll be flying EVA Business there, and ANA First for the return. I’m super excited, but honestly, I don’t know very much about Okinawa. I don’t drive, so that’s a big hamper on my plans.
Turkish airlines is a premier Star Alliance carrier, with one of the best Business Class products available, with an excellent lounge, stunning food, and good ground services (free transfer hotel, city tour). Further, they release a good amount of award availability, and Aeroplan doesn’t charge fuel surcharges to redeem on them! For this trip, we were flying Malta – Istanbul – Toronto in Business Class.
Getting a surprise upgrade to Lufthansa First Class was the focus of the last post, and now I will review the product itself.
I will forgo reviewing the positioning United flight from Ottawa-Washington, other than to note it felt like a much nicer domestic first service than experienced in the past and United may be making some real improvements. Readers may recall that I had my tongue firmly affixed to my cheek when I previously reviewed United Global First Class.
I have a number of cards with American Express in the United States. I was recently approved for and given an SPG card. Once I received it, I used it for a week for a number of purchases, including a large purchase for laser eye surgery. However, I was noticing that the charges were never showing up on the account. I even called American Express and they couldn’t see the charges. Weird.
As a family, we were supposed to fly Ottawa-Montreal-Zürich-Nice, where I had managed to get an amazing five award seats in Swiss business class during a surprising release of availability.
As my attentive readers may have noted, I’ve become an expert on getting free hotel rooms – specifically, through the IHG BRG program. This was my best yet, and on New Year’s Eve!
